New Years Resolution-ing
2026, The year of F**ck the Feeling Follow the Plan
January 1st New Year Same You. How exactly do we follow the plan to create intentional goals and actions that work towards a sustainable change?
1. Goals with INTENTION
Setting goals with intention means first reflecting on where you currently are. Ask yourself: Do I NEED a stronger baseline (ie power lifts & strict gymnastics) Do I HAVE a strong baseline and need to improve technique (gymnastic & olympic lift drills) or do I have BOTH and need a stronger capacity (how can I translate my 1-2 skills into fatigue based WODs.)
From here you will select 1 Barbell goal, 1 Gymnastics goal.
2. Create a PLAN
To progress you need to practice! Putting time into your goals is vital, whether this be in open gym, before & after class or in a private session with a coach. You may choose to create an independent, repetitive progression plan (think how you would progress toward a pull-up form, starting with heavy to light bands) or seek out reliable advice to help you create a cycle-based plan.
3. Execution without EXCUSE
Goals need time and consistency to work and to last. Set the intention that you will spend 3 points within your week putting specific work towards your goal. Know there will be horrible days, rainy days and many days full of reasons not to work on it.
F**k the Feeling Follow the Plan. Choose to change, to grow, and to put the effort in, only YOU can.
