Transitional Seasons
With the Open and Quarterfinals now behind us it’s tempting to look ahead towards the next ‘big thing’. Whether it be Murph, UG series, Tri-City or another upcoming fitness event in your life. It is important to acknowledge and use the benefits of transitional periods before new training blocks and goals.
These periods are not only beneficial for recovery and maintenance acting as instances of lighter loading or even deloads, but also can act as mental resets.
When training for a specific event or outcome we become often “locked in” and complacent with training. We have an outcome-focused mindset and may temporarily lose some of the initial joy that came from joining the sport.
We encourage you to use this time to your advantage, show up with a new mindset and intention, find joy in your training, lift with a friend, remind yourself at the end of the day it should be the best hour and that happens when it’s fun!
These periods are also great moments to improve on skills in a no pressure setting. Whether it’s strength, gymnastics or cardio. Practicing these skills at your own pace can set you up towards stress-free training and learning, and environment we all look for!
Enjoy the ‘in between’ time, it may be some of your best time.
